With the close proximity to the old north channel of Putah Creek, the artwork draws attention to this historic waterway. The freestanding rammed earth wall mimics the shape of the old north channel that once meandered from the current location of down town Davis into South Davis. The wall also exhibits a cross section of sedimentary layers similar to the effect of flood plane deposition. In time, the earth material naturally weathers and erodes, further highlighting the temporal characteristics of this historic waterway.
